Malware Research Team Lead

Position Summary: 

We're looking for an experienced malware researcher to join our financial malware team and take a leadership role. This team works closely with F5's desktop and mobile anti-fraud products' development team in finding new detection methods and signatures and publishing research.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Perform static and dynamic analysis on the latest banking trojans. (70%)
  • Manage day-to-day tasks of malware researchers and research tool developers. (20%)
  • Provide technical leadership in reverse engineering. (10%)
  • Working with development team to deliver creative malware solutions.
  • Lead integration of latest findings into product signature updates
  • Combination of hands-on and management responsibilities.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • At least 3 years of malware analysis is mandatory.
  • Wide experience with malware research tools (behavioral, debugging and static).
  • Strong background in Assembler, Win32 API, JavaScript and Python.
  • Good background in TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS protocols.
  • Advantage: Experience with handling anti-debugging techniques, custom packers, encryption and compression.
  • Advantage: Experience with Mobile malware analysis.
  • Advantage: Experience in financial malware research.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer science or related an advantage

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.  Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
