Job Description

Aspen Mesh is an F5 Networks innovation and we are looking for our first Director of Market Development who will help us identify our market and determine our product fit. We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and understands that there is a fundamental shift happening in technology. From public and hybrid clouds to containers and serverless companies are rapidly shifting they way the deploy, manage and operate their mission critical

applications. We need someone who is half product manager, half business development, and half sales to help us build the next large revenue stream for F5 (yes we know that adds up to 150%) by developing the service mesh market and product space.

As our Director of Market Development you will be responsible for leading, developing and managing the go-to-market strategy for Aspen Mesh. You will create and execute our customer discovery process to develop a new, scalable business model and work collaboratively with Product, Engineering and Marketing teams to deliver a brand new product to market.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop go-to-market teams and customer discovery activities
  • Execute the customer discovery process to develop new and existing business models
  • Identify and secure lighthouse and reference customers
  • Communicate market and customer needs with Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Customer Success teams
  • Develop and manage new key partner relationships and strategies
  • Create, initiate and drive sales activities through direct and web sales motions
  • Define and identify pricing structures and optimize them for maximum value and ROI
  • Create sales strategies, market tests and sales forecast volumes and metrics
  • Determine sales targets and compensation models for future sales strategies
  • Work closely with marketing to align product strategy and messaging
  • Collaborate with management to develop customer success metrics and targets
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations and coordinating related activities
  • Represent the company and product at trade shows and conferences

Required Experience and Knowledge

  • Strong business acumen with extensive experience developing business models for subscription and utility as-a-service offerings.
  • Excellent history of achievement as a sales leader focused on selling software solutions
  • Proven success working in a small fast paced environment serving new and emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of DevOps teams and methodologies
  • Knowledge of computer networking, microservices and container technologies


  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university
  • 8+ years of experience selling software products
  • 5+ years sales management experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel to attend customer meetings, trade shows, conferences or other activities that business may require
