Site IT Manager - APAC

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Manage the day to day operations of our APAC sites.Provide comprehensive regional IT support for F5 office site(s) remote from headquarters, including production datacenters/systems, voice and data networks and equipment, PCs and workstations, and test/development lab infrastructure.  Coordinate extensively with USA based Managers and Seattle IT teams to ensure consistency in operations and end user support procedures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Advanced knowledge of financial metrics, processes, industry standards and best practices
  • Maintains a strong relationship with the regional business leaders to maintain high IT service levels
  • Works with Finance and IT departments to develop the operating and investment budgets to manage and own overall technology spending for APAC.
  • Leads the quarterly budget intake process, analysis, reporting and budget to actual tracking
  • PCS/Desktops: Order, setup, install, maintain PCs and related peripherals for F5 staff across APAC. Provide expert level end user support.
  • Operations: Manage and own procedures for highly effective and reliable local IT operations. Utilize appropriate tools and utilities to facilitate operations monitoring. Administer operations applications, e.g., backups, system monitoring, logging. Own and Drive action to ensure problems and potential error conditions are promptly and appropriately addressed.
  • Network: Own and manage all local network infrastructures to ensure performance and reliability for local LAN, Internet, and corporate WAN connectivity.
  • Communication: Ensure ongoing communications with local employees and managers as well as IT management and staff, regarding issues and activities relating to systems operations.
  • Telecomm: Provide Second-level support for telephone operations, including adds/moves/changes in local office.
  • Documentation: Establish, maintain and own procedures to ensure up-to-date configuration documentation is maintained for production hardware and software.
  • Own and manage installation standards & practices. Maintain daily activity, task, and system status information for standard reporting systems & processes.
  • Equipment: Maintain and support computer hardware; ensure cleanliness and organization in equipment rooms; verify all equipment and cabling is properly installed for safety, reliability and neatness. 
  • Physical Plant: Manage and ensure reliable operations of electrical, HVAC, fire protection, etc. systems supporting local systems in IT Data Center.
  • Vendors: Evaluate and select products & vendors to provide goods & services related to local systems operations. Manage ongoing vendor relationships to ensure adequate support.
  • Spares & Support: Regularly assess service contracts and on-hand spare parts availability to ensued adequate coverage for all productions systems. Administer spare parts inventories
  • System Auditing: Regularly audit local systems to ensure compliance with IT installation and security policies/procedures. Correct discrepancies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Demonstrated supervisory ability.
  • Demonstrated hands on ability to configure and manage end user, network and server based environments.
  • Experience of working across multi-site locations in APAC essential
  • Solid written & verbal communications; fluency in English language
  • Excellent cross cultural, interpersonal, planning, documentation, organization, and problem solving skills.
  • Customer service ethic; ability to work directly with internal F5 customers at all levels to ensure client escalations are handled appropriately.
  • Project management skills; ability to coordinate multi-functional resources effectively to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to act independently and engage internal & external personnel/services to ensure reliable system operations.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in working with production systems is critical.
  • Capably setup, configure, and troubleshoot PCs, network devices, server equipment, and operating systems.
  • Advanced Linux/UNIX and/or Windows skills
  • At least intermediate-level network engineering skills (switches, routers, BIG-IPs)
  • Hands-on experience with telecommunications equipment (phones, PBXes)
  • Strong Knowledge of physical plant requirements related to IT/datacenter operations
  • Knowledge & experience across the whole spectrum of IT-related functions: network infrastructure, datacenter operations, PC/desktop equipment support, business applications development & support, etc.
  • Use of ITIL standards and best practice for implementation in an IT environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • College degree in a computer discipline, or equivalent applicable experience.
  • Technical certifications desirable.
  • 5+ years IT management experience required.
  • No restrictions on ability to travel to domestic & international locations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.  Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 20% of the time spent traveling.
