Corporate counsel, Singapore

Position Summary

Reporting to the EVP General Counsel, the Legal Counsel APAC will be the "go to" legal resource for APAC providing both sales and non- sales legal support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Negotiating sales contracts (product, software, professional services, maintenance services, cloud based security services, framework agreements and EULAs)
  • Negotiating reseller contracts and distribution contracts
  • Drafting pricing letters, manufacturers authorization letters
  • Reviewing Channels policies for anti-trust compliance
  • Supporting our GDPR and Compliance initiatives
  • Supporting new entity set up across APAC
  • Supporting corporate affairs and tax teams with reviewing corporate filings
  • managing disputes
  • Prioritizing sales support during quarter end and fiscal year end.
  • Upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Providing legal support to APAC Marketing team:
  • Negotiating agency agreements and SOWs
  • Reviewing marketing campaigns for data privacy compliance and ensuring compliance with local laws (e.g. campaigns involving “free giveaways”)
  • Providing legal support to IT and Facilities teams;
  • Negotiating inbound supplier contracts for IT services
  • Negotiating leases, licenses and various facilities agreements (eg reception services, cleaning and maintenance services)
  • Working closely with APAC  Finance, Sales Operations and tax teams:
  • Attending weekly meetings arranged by  Finance to ensure you are up to date on any internal issues these teams may need support with.
  • Ensuring revenue accounting and tax teams sign off on any deals with tax, revenue accounting (eg future features commitments) implications
  • Providing legal support to HR team as follows:
  • Negotiating supplier contracts (eg agency agreements)
  • Reviewing internal HR policies and updating the same
  • Negotiating contracts with various benefits providers
  • Assisting with employee disciplinary issues
  • Attendance at various regular meetings including weekly APAC Management call, monthly legal team call, weekly Finance, HR, Payroll Legal collaboration meeting.
  • Working with Sales Operations team to provide periodic training to sales teams on anti- trust compliance, overview of key legal terms, importance of using disclaimers in RFP responses etc.
  • Being the “go to” person for any other ad hoc legal requests that arise within the region and where time permits, picking up APAC work (which is shared between the legal team).

Qualifications

  • Degree in Law preferred
  • Admission to practice in England and Wales
    Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience (recent in-house experience is preferred)
     

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the Information Technology and services industry is an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
