Engineering Manager - UI

Position Summary:

F5 Networks seeks a passionate, technically brilliant, seasoned technical manager to join a team that executes the vision for the company’s next generation security products. Key responsibilities will be to develop and manage people, provide technical leadership, lead project planning and work assignments, facilitate communication, co-ordinate project timelines and offer product vision. You will manage a team of developers (systems, web) and will take a significant part in a dynamic team that is focused on building and sustaining world-class network security products. This is a crucial leadership role with growth potential and the opportunity to interface directly with F5’s customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage the team’s deliverables, and provide technical and logistical direction and support. Ensure milestones are being met; Develop and administer schedules and performance requirements.

  • Work with managers, architects and lead engineers to develop appropriate designs and architectures.
  • Participate in functional feature planning and the creation of supporting documents (mockups, screenshots, schemas etc.) as required.

Employee management including but not limited to sourcing, interviewing and hiring for open positions, onboarding, establishing goals, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving mentorship to staff, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), developing performance improvement plans, and taking disciplinary action.

  • Act as an advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develop a healthy, encouraging and supportive environment to foster employee growth and happiness
  • Encourage learning to develop the team's strength. Expand team’s visibility by engaging the team with other cross-functional teams.
  • Hire strong talent to grow the team as required
  • Preserve F5 company’s culture and maintain an encouraging work environment

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years leading a development team
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Consistent record of delivering projects involving collaboration between teams and cross-functional dependencies. Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing direct reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of web technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, cross-browser libraries) required. AngularJS proficiency is a big plus.
  • Knowledge of databases/C++ is highly desirable, although not required.
  • Familiarity with networking products – Firewalls, IPS and/or DDoS solutions an advantage
  • Must have passion for learning new technologies and multi-disciplinary subjects
  • M.S. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
