Product Management Engineer

Position Summary

The Cloud Product Management team is looking for a Product Management Engineer II (PME) who has technical sales ability as wells as complete product knowledge (both F5 and competitors) and networking engineering experience (including design and troubleshooting). As a PME you will perform proof of concept development, research and analysis, and solution validation. PMEs partner with the Product Management team to deliver critical technical inputs to inform product and go to market strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

Solution Testing and Feature Validation

  • Validate product requirements are met and properly integrated into the product per release.
  • Promote new products by building product demonstrations and presentations for customer and resellers.
  • Craft example solutions using F5 technologies to support projects.

New Technology Development

  • Prototype new solutions and define new use cases for LTM and Acceleration products.
  • Influence market and product requirements and document requirements based on solutions developed.
  • Coordinate the design and conduct tests which characterize the baseline performance as well as the improvement performance after F5 technologies are deployed

Research and Analysis

  • Coordinating design and conducting product demos
  • Provide product and market analysis, comparing solutions and product strategies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and layer 7 protocols
  • Knowledge of underlying web technologies including HTTP, HTML and JavaScript
  • Experience with various performance tools associated with stress testing a plus
  • Experience with real world application deployments
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to rapidly pick up new technologies
  • Handling technical issues of any degree of complexity with minimal need for supervision or assistance

Qualifications

  • 2+ years meaningful work experience required
  • Undergraduate Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience recommended.
  • Strong industry background including past experience with one or more of the following: load balancing, application layer firewalls, SSL VPNs, web acceleration, or WAN acceleration.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required – both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate others about complex technology simply
  • Technical sales experience preferred
  • Some Python experience is desired
  • Experience with AWS is desired
  • Proven appreciation for user experience
  • Fluent in various scripting languages for test automation
