F5 Solutions Help American Imaging Management Prepare Web-Based Healthcare Diagnostic Services for Tremendous Growth

Leading provider of diagnostic imaging management services migrates applications to new data center with zero downtime; AIM healthcare providers are ensured real-time 24/7 access to critical patient information

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that American Imaging Management, Inc. (AIM), one of the nation's leading providers of diagnostic imaging management services, has implemented F5®BIG-IP® Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager (GTM) devices to establish the mature infrastructure the company needs to support its rapidly growing web-based services.

AIM's ProviderPortal® website offers healthcare provider offices real-time, 24/7 access to preauthorization claims, eligibility information, and many other services, and receives more than one million preauthorization requests annually. F5 solutions give AIM dynamic, granular control over website traffic to ensure availability, performance, and a stable, seamless user experience regardless of how much their web-based applications evolve or the user base grows.

"The ability to have a flexible and agile infrastructure that's going to support the growth of our business is absolutely paramount," said Adam Lord, Director of Infrastructure Services at AIM. "By implementing F5 solutions, we've positioned our infrastructure to allow business to grow to virtually any size without having to worry about any bottlenecks from our Internet presence."

In addition to delivering performance improvements that users noticed immediately, BIG-IP LTM and GTM recently enabled the company to successfully migrate its applications to a new data center with zero downtime.

"The move to the new primary processing facility was essential, but in the past it might have required a couple of days' outage," added Lord. "F5 gave us the ability to do the migration with no impact to our user base-which is a huge value-add for our business-and represents a giant step in maturity for our infrastructure."

"BIG-IP GTM seamlessly directs all of AIM's incoming website traffic to the most appropriate data center, while BIG-IP LTM and F5's customizable iRules commands intelligently manage all of the internal and external application traffic coming into AIM's servers," said Jason Needham, Sr. Director of Product Management at F5. "With the F5 BIG-IP platform, application service providers like AIM gain complete control and visibility into their application traffic so they can ensure the highest possible performance, stability, and availability for their applications."

AIM plans to continue developing its infrastructure with F5 by implementing the BIG-IP Application Security Manager (ASM) solution later this year. With BIG-IP ASM, AIM will be able to apply specific security policies that ensure the protection of its membership data and compliance with the highest information security standards in the healthcare industry.

F5 BIG-IP solutions deliver high availability, improved performance, application security, and access control. For more information, please visit www.f5.com/products/big-ip.
