F5 Networks Opens New Solution Center to Help Customers and Partners Increase the Value of Enterprise and Web Services Applications

Solution Center demonstrates how to obtain increased ROI from existing applications through interoperability and integration between F5 products and 3rd party applications

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), today announced the availability of the Company's new Solution Center. Available to F5 customers, partners and prospects, the Solution Center provides detailed online documentation and specific solution scenarios that demonstrate to businesses how they can increase the ROI of their applications and network infrastructure through superior availability, scale, security and performance of their existing and future enterprise and Web services applications.

The cornerstone of this unique resource is the Solution Center's Test Lab, which is where test engineers conduct application integration and interoperability testing with 3rd party applications. Based upon the results of this testing, the Solution Center provides a way for customers and partners to experience interoperability and integration scenarios between Application Traffic Management products and leading infrastructure software, such as BEA WebLogic, Microsoft .NET, Oracle9i Application Server, Siebel 7, and other application areas like Intrusion Detection Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, financials, etc.

"We've invested a significant amount of time and resource in developing the Solution Center because it pulls all the critical pieces together in one place the network, the applications, traffic management and the knowledge of how to best optimize them," said Dan Matte, vice-president of product management and marketing at F5 Networks. "The Solution Center helps customers and partners understand how to take an existing infrastructure, optimize it through intelligent traffic management, and create an integrated whole that is greater than the sum of its parts."

A Valuable Tool for F5 Partners

For F5 Alliance Partners, the Solution Center provides validation of interoperability provided by F5's iControl™ SDK between their applications and F5 products. It demonstrates how their customers can achieve higher uptime and better application performance while increasing their ROI. For System Integrators, the Solution Center serves as a valuable resource that helps them provide optimal integration of their customers' infrastructures. This maximizes productivity and ensures the best possible product experience, enabling partners to offer increased value to their customers.

"Oracle9i Application Server dramatically improves Web application performance and reliability by ensuring Web content remains current and Web applications are always available," said Thomas Kurian, senior vice president of Oracle9i Application Server at Oracle. "F5 and Oracle have collaborated to create rich documentation and deployment guides to help customers quickly and easily deploy the pre-tested configuration and we are pleased that F5 is making these available through F5 Solution Center."

"BEA Systems is dedicated to providing our customers with a complete platform for building, integrating, and extending enterprise applications," said Eric Stahl, director of product marketing, BEA Systems, Inc. "That's why we're excited about F5's new Solution Center. This resource demonstrates how customers using F5 products with BEA WebLogic Server and BEA WebLogic Workshop can increase the value and shorten the payback period of their applications. And, it effectively accomplishes this through rich documentation, step-by-step deployment guides, and 'reproducible' results in a lab environment."

"Mercury Interactive is dedicated to business technology optimization," said David Reichman, vice president of products and marketing at Mercury Interactive. "We are excited about F5's new Solution Center which showcases Topaz, our performance management solution, that helps our joint customers to manage availability, performance, and service levels in real-time from a business-centric perspective and reduce the total costs of fault management. The F5 Solution Center gives customers a thorough understanding of how to get the most out of their applications by leveraging F5 and Mercury Interactive products."

About the Solution Center

The Solution Center is designed as a resource for any organization's IT management and technical staff to get the most out of their network infrastructure and applications. As a dynamic resource that F5 continuously cultivates, the Solution Center will expand as more applications are tested, validated and documented. Anyone can access the Solution Center section of the F5 Web site where content is organized by application and technology types, making it intuitive and easy for users to quickly drill down to the most relevant information. The Solution Center is comprised of several key components, including a public web site, test lab, and demo lab, which will open in calendar year Q2.

Public Web site - The Solution Center section of the F5 Web site is the entry point for quick and easy access to solution-centric collateral and documentation. F5 has posted over forty new documents that cover a range of technology and application types. These documents provide high-level overviews of technologies, such as Security and Web Services and detailed explanations that will help users create the best possible marriage of the various technology elements.

White Papers - These papers offer a technical overview of key technology areas, like Multi-Homing, Security or Web services, and include the key challenges that businesses face and how F5 solutions can address these issues.

Application Briefs - A high level overview for the line-of-business manager or IT executive that describes the benefits that F5 can provide for a particular type of application.

Solution Briefs - A technical overview that explains how a F5 solution benefits a vendor's application. This document outlines the challenges that customers typically face with the specific application and what F5 products do to solve the problem.

Deployment Guides - A step-by-step description of how to implement either an integration or interoperability solution for a specific application.

Test Lab - The Solution Center Test Lab is where application integration and interoperability testing with third party applications occurs. Located in the Network Performance Lab, the temporary test harness is where test engineers install, configure and validate solutions, which are documented in a deployment guide to provide customers with step-by-step implementation details.

Demo Lab - This portion of the Solution Center will allow customers to see solutions in action through demonstrations given by F5 salespeople and Solution Center engineers, from anywhere around the world. On a case-by-case basis, F5 may also use this lab to pretest customer specific implementations.
