F5 Introduces New Release of Enterprise Manager

New product delivers unprecedented scalability, flexibility and reliability for centralized management and rapid provisioning of F5 BIG-IP devices; Significantly lowers the cost of deploying and managing an Application Delivery Infrastructure

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced a new software release and platform for the Enterprise Management product set. Enterprise Manager version 1.2 adds centralized configuration and policy management to distribute configurations to multiple BIG-IP ® devices. With this release of Enterprise Manager, customers can dramatically reduce the manpower associated with rolling out configuration changes to hundreds of BIG-IP devices. Organizations now have a way to create centralized templates for configurations and distribute them as a corporate standard, improving control and safeguarding against manual errors.

F5's new Enterprise Manager 3000 platform, provides a powerful centralized management device capable of managing up to 300 BIG-IP systems. With unmatched scale and reliability and improvements such as RAID disks, the new platform provides a solution for the largest and most demanding Telcos and enterprise organizations that have standardized on F5 products and its TMOS architecture.

"With the Enterprise Manager 3000, customers looking at large scale deployments of F5 devices can now manage them effectively from a central location," said Jason Needham, Director of Product Management at F5 Networks. "And, because Enterprise Manager is built using iControl and leverages F5's advanced TMOS architecture, it provides a robust foundation that can support any TMOS-enabled device."

In addition to the hardware device inventory, software management and distribution, and centralized SSL certificate management capabilities announced last fall, the newest release of Enterprise Manager delivers 'ChangeSets', which allow customers to create a set of templates that contain device profiles, configuration settings, iRule definitions and much more. Once created, the system administrator can store and manage multiple ChangeSets within Enterprise Manager. When a new BIG-IP device needs to be added, the ChangeSet template is simply pushed out and the new system is configured, significantly reducing the time and errors associated with manual processes.

Enterprise Manager v1.2 and the Enterprise Manager 3000 platform are available in August. The new software release runs on both the 500 and 3000 platforms. Existing F5 customers with current maintenance agreements can upgrade to Enterprise Manager v1.2 at no additional cost. For more information on Enterprise Manager, visit
