F5 BIG-IP Solutions Enable MegaPath to Quickly Scale Managed Services to Meet Customers' Business Continuity Needs

New research survey from TechValidate reveals BIG-IP solutions deliver tangible business value and ROI for enterprise customers; MegaPath confirms results by reducing annual OpEx budgets with BIG-IP devices

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking (ADN), today announced that MegaPath Inc. has implemented F5®BIG-IP® products to ensure that their IT infrastructure is highly scalable, flexible, and available. MegaPath provides managed services to help customers worldwide gain secure access to applications. To help achieve IT initiatives related to scaling, growth, and disaster recovery, MegaPath relies on BIG-IP solutions, including F5's customizable iRules™ scripting capability.

"BIG-IP solutions enable us to manage the performance of the overall IT infrastructure, and give us the flexibility to quickly add additional systems for scaling purposes," said Abel Nelson, VP, SSL Operations at MegaPath. "Any kind of event that affects business continuity or causes additional demand for secure remote access is very significant to our customers. There is a high interest in use cases-including pandemic and inclement weather scenarios-where companies can help workers stay productive when coming into the office is not an option. BIG-IP solutions provide a reliable application delivery platform that enables us to manage critical services and help customers address variable network, application, and user conditions."

BIG-IP Customers Report Scale and Growth Plus Reduced OpEx

TechValidate, an independent research organization, recently analyzed financial and operational data collected from F5 customers that have experience deploying and using BIG-IP® solutions. In response to the survey, MegaPath reported that deploying BIG-IP helped reduce annual OpEx costs. The survey results showed:

  • 66% of surveyed IT organizations use their BIG-IP devices to achieve scale and growth initiatives. (Source: TechValidate. TVID: 930-01A-DF8)
  • 49% of surveyed IT organizations state that they reduced their annual OpEx budget by 10% or more by deploying BIG-IP solutions. (Source: TechValidate. TVID: E18-E63-A3C)
  • 43% of IT organizations state that they selected BIG-IP over other alternatives because of the product's flexibility with iRules or iControl ®. (Source: TechValidate. TVID: 4-B3D-234)

"Having BIG-IP devices in place gives us the flexibility to scale quickly," added Nelson. "In cases of pandemic emergency, the increased usage of MegaPath's service can double or triple, so we rely on the F5 solution for high scalability in that environment. BIG-IP allows MegaPath to add additional gear with little or no downtime for the end-user community."

"When organizations like MegaPath need to scale quickly in response to change, IT personnel require solutions that will help them support new growth, while still containing costs," said Jason Needham, Sr. Director of Product Management at F5. "The TechValidate survey results-sourced directly from users with first-hand experience deploying BIG-IP solutions-indicate that F5 continues to deliver on its promise of enabling IT teams to do more with less."
