F5's BIG-IP Application Security Manager Wins Readers' Choice Award from Information Security and SearchSecurity.com

BIG-IP ASM captures Silver award in Application Security category from distinguished IT publications

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that the F5® BIG-IP® Application Security Manager (ASM) security solution has earned a Readers' Choice Award from Information Security and SearchSecurity.com. ASM claimed the Silver Award in the highly contested Application Security category.

BIG-IP ASM received strong scores for its effectiveness in preventing known attacks and vulnerabilities, and for its vendor support and service. ASM was also singled out for its ability to integrate with other BIG-IP devices, which enables it to build security policies based on the traffic it observes.

Each year, the Information Security/SearchSecurity.com Readers' Choice Awards honor new or enhanced products that enterprise IT professionals should consider adding to their "A" lists of security products to evaluate.

"We're extremely proud of this award, especially because it reflects the opinions of security professionals and other IT experts," said Jason Needham, Sr. Director of Product Management at F5. "With ASM, customers have the ability to integrate security into their existing application delivery infrastructure, as opposed to deploying a separate device to manage application security. This recognition is a testament to F5's security and integration capabilities, and underscores our dedication to providing comprehensive application security solutions."

To decide the winners, Information Security and SearchSecurity.com presented more than 1,600 readers with a survey of some 360 security products, divided into 18 categories. The categories and product lists were determined by Information Security and SearchSecurity.com editors, in consultation with recognized information security experts. Respondents were asked to rate each product based on criteria specific to each category. For each criterion, respondents scored the product on a scale of one (poor) to five (excellent). In addition, each criterion was given a weighted percentage to reflect its importance in that category. Winners were based on the cumulative weighted responses for each product category's criteria.

The award notification also highlighted upcoming enhancements for BIG-IP ASM, including an anti-evasion engine, SMTP protection, and security for rich media applications.
